Hydroponic pumps are used to cycle water throughout a hydroponic system and come in three types: submersible, non-submersible, and semi-submersible, which sits partially in the solution while the pump top stays dry. Since the plants in hydroponic systems absorb their nutrients from the water, the water must be circulated in order to ensure the plants are receiving a balanced amount. Hydroponic pumps should be chosen based upon the size of the garden and the amount of nutrient solution that needs to be circulated.
